a great, simple stacking rings setFebruary 28, 2010 Silea(Portland, OR) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love Plan Toys. They use solid, sturdy wood instead of plastics, and all of their dyes are food-grade so you don't have to worry about your kid ingesting anything nasty if they chew on their toys.
This stacking ring set is great. Some people have complained that it's smaller than a lot of the other stacking ring sets out there, but i don't see that as a bad thing. Infant and toddler hands are pretty small, and these rings seem to fit them pretty well. My son actually refused to play with a stacking ring set at his grandparents' house because the big, puffy plastic rings were too big for him to hold.
The collapsible base thing is actually a bit silly. All it means is that instead of the column being fixed to the base, it's tied on with string. If you push it, it flexes a little.
And as for the red ball on top not screwing on, well, i'd like this toy less if it did. My son likes stacking the rings then upending the whole thing, which he wouldn't be able to do if it screwed on. Also, i doubt he'd be able to get the hang of screwing it on right away, so he wouldn't be able to put it on at all until he did. Sure, it would make storage a bit easier, but it's not really that hard to pick the whole thing up by the base instead of by the ball on the top.
So much funMarch 17, 2007 S. Emch(California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We love this toy. My daughter is just a year old and so we use the wooden disks by themselves for now (i wouldn't want her to hurt herself on the stick). she stacks all the disks by herself and claps when she's through. it takes some practice and patience to balance the disks without the stick. she loves it. there are no design flaws with our toy.
Lovely Learning ToyApril 12, 2009 Mommy Kind(Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love that the rings actually go in the rainbow order of colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. The colors are vibrant. The pole bends away from the base, so there's some flexibility. My son loves this toy and has played with it since he was seven months old (minus the pole base). If you have a dog, I would recommend watching them closely around this toy. For some reason, my dog chewed on two of the rings. Maybe because of the vegetable dyes or the rubber tree wood? I still think this is the best stacking ring.
Awesome ringsMay 6, 2009 Angelica Egozcue(Tampa, FL USA) I bought this for my i yr old's 1st b-day. She's loved it from day one. Pretty much just flung the rings around at first..took her a month to figure out different ways of stacking them.MANY diffrent ways! great toy!
Great stacking toy!August 20, 2010 mama This is a great toy. It was a little smaller than I expected but that turned out to be a good thing because it's better for little hands. My son is learning his colors from this toy. It's also great for learning hand/eye coordination (lining up to stack the rings).
