This mahjong set is styled to have the look and feel of a traditional American Bakelite set. Buttery tiles sit atop comfortably beautiful wooden racks, and a wooden rosewood veneer case with felt lining gives this set an understated elegance. This set has 166 tiles, including all the 144 tiles for classical Chinese play as well as an extra 22 tiles for the American version of the game. With this set you can comfortably play either version. To play the Chinese version simply use the red dragons as the 'hong zhong' and the green dragons as the 'fa' tiles.

The set is more beautiful in person. Claimed that the wooden racks included the pushers but the set I received did not have the pushers. I am having to order them separately.

I am retired and have just recently started playing mah jong. This is a great game that requires thinking skills. This particular set is the envy of all my friends. I would recommend it to anyone. The service from yellow mountain imports was perfect.

Beautiful set; very well crafted. Mahjong is a much more complicated game than I would have imagined. The directions that came with the set give a cursory description about how to play, but I suspect that it takes one years to really learn the complexities. So I am not surprised. I am going to try to find someone who knows how to play in order to begin learning. Also be aware that it takes a minimum of four people to play.

This Mah Jong set definitely is NOT a toy. I belong to a club of Mah Jong enthusiasts residing in Thailand. Members range from those just learning the strategies of Mah Jong to those who have played in the casinos of Macao (Macau). Needing a Western Mah Jong set, impossible to find here in Thailand, this set was ordered through Amazon and brought to us by a visiting friend. The case in which the set comes is stunning -- a red wood case with brass fittings. The tiles are a bit on the smaller size but easily played with. Well crafted pieces. Even the most discerning Mah Jong player will be proud to own a set of this quality.
