5 out of 5 stars great for LEARNING TO WRITE   February 18, 2010

These are for OLDER kids-- not babies. For 3-6 year olds learning how to hold crayons and pencils. The Occupational Therapist for my 3 year old son recommended these so he could learn to hold writing utensils. Great for developing fine-motor skills.

we really like these crayon rocks (haven't been able to use them outside yet but they work as well on paper). They are easy for a toddler's little fingers to hold, they have fun rich colors, and the bad they come in is nice. We used the crayon rocks to play counting and color games too!
It's a neat product!

3 out of 5 stars dangerously pretty   December 2, 2009

We've bought these crayons for our baby boy - it seemed like a great idea to get him something bright, non-toxic and easy to grip to draw with. The problem is that these crayon rocks are very bright and pretty; they are also a perfect size/shape to be quickly slipped into baby's mouth (and VERY difficult to take out) - a concept that our son demonstrated 15 seconds after I've opened the package.
----
Funny enough, every time our adult guests see these crayons, they think of them as candies as well:), and the beautiful red velvet bag in which crayons rocks are stored is not helping in making a correct identification either.
I would highly recommend to the manufacturer to change the shape of this product to something that resembles an actual jumbo crayon - I'm still searching for a good non-toxic alternative to regular crayons.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   January 14, 2010

I bought these crayons thinking they'd be perfect for my little one to start coloring with. Looked much easier to hold than a crayon. I was disappointed to see that they were so incredibly tiny that there is no way I can give this to my daughter(she's one). I'm actually not sure what the point of them are if they aren't bigger for little ones that may not be able to hold a crayon just yet. I should have read your description more clearly in saying not for children under 3 and also your description that images appear larger than they actually are. Great concept, just way too small.
